Description
Isoborneol is produced by hydration of camphene and sits directly on the route between pinene and camphor. It is chiefly bought as an intermediate, since oxidising it is the standard industrial path to synthetic camphor.
It also has value in its own right as a woody camphoraceous aroma material and in specialised industrial applications.
